UK hotspots for travel job searches revealed by C&M
Brighton, Croydon and Blackburn see biggest increases in searches for new travel jobs
The most in-demand places to find a new travel job in the UK have been revealed in a survey by C&M Travel Recruitment.
London continued to lead the way, but the number of searches for new roles in the city fell by 1.01 per cent in the first seven months of 2014 compared to the same period last year. However, many of London’s surrounding areas saw strong annual rises, with travel job searches increasing by 20.21 per cent in Croydon, 9.01 per cent in Watford and 11.32 per cent in Sutton.
There were also very strong increases in the likes of Plymouth (plus 39.10 per cent), Brighton (plus 36.43 per cent), Aberdeen (plus 32.53 per cent) and Crawley (plus 31.90 per cent).
Commenting on the figures, Barbara Kolosinska, Sales Director at C&M Travel Recruitment and sister company Chisholm & Moore Executive Recruitment, said: “Candidate enquiries in London have remained very steady so far this year, with the city remaining far and away the most popular in the UK with those looking for a new travel job.
“What’s perhaps more pleasing to see is the large increase in enquiries about roles in surrounding areas such as Croydon and Watford, as well as double-digit rises in other locations across the UK including Plymouth, Brighton and Aberdeen, which indicates the strength of the market as a whole.”
In terms of the north of England and the Midlands, there has been a 7.51 per cent fall in activity in Manchester this year, although it remains the second most popular city in the UK for travel job searches.
Leeds and Birmingham have also seen similar dips of 9.82 per cent and 11.18 per cent, although searches have risen by 20.97 per cent in Coventry, 8.12 per cent in York, 2.45 per cent in Liverpool, 1.79 per cent in Newcastle and 1.53 per cent in Bolton, while enquiries about new travel roles in Blackburn have almost doubled (plus 96.67 per cent).
“It is clear that the market for travel jobs is highly competitive in many locations of the country with people now focusing on their career again and considering the options available to them,” said Ms Kolosinska.
“However, the falls in searches that we have seen in the likes of Manchester and Birmingham mean that there is now an opportunity for good candidates to take advantage of the reduced activity in their area and make their applications seem even more attractive to employers.”
