(TRAVPR.COM) USA - August 11th, 2014 - With the summer travel season entering its final months, Grand Canyon Helicopters, the leader in Canyon air-tour information and bookings, has just updated and re-released its popular guide on how to get flights at discount rates.

The report includes deals on Las Vegas and South Rim helicopter tours to the Grand Canyon, as well as tips on how to secure such trips at a significant discount. "Prices are at their peak during summer," said Keith Kravitz, owner of Grand Canyon Helicopters. "This free report provides much-needed relief from extraordinarily high rates."

There are two places from which travelers depart for the Grand Canyon: Las Vegas and the South Rim (Tusayan, AZ). Daily flights are available from both locations, with tours ranging from air-only to landing packages that come with a number of great side trips. "No matter what kind of traveler you are," Kravitz said, "there's bound to be a flight that works for you."

Las Vegas

Las Vegas tours take off from The Strip, Boulder City, NV and/or Henderson, NV. Strip departures are more expensive than those from the suburbs but come with extra perks that make them the better value. "For example," said Kravitz, "Strip perks include chauffeured limousine service to and from the client's hotel as well as a tour of The Strip itself."

All Vegas tours go over Lake Mead and Hoover Dam before hovering over the Canyon. Air tours at this point will turn back for town while landing trips will either land at the bottom or the top of the West Rim. "The most popular landing tour is the one that flies to the base for a Champagne picnic," said Kravitz. "And if a traveler really wants to take it to the max, then add a Colorado boat ride and Skywalk tickets into the mix."

It should be noted that Las Vegas helicopters do not fly to the South Rim - it's too far. If travlers are looking for an air tour that does this, it's advised to book an airplane trip. "Airplanes cover the route from Vegas to the South Rim in 60 minutes," noted Kravitz. "The standard trip includes a 2.5-hour bus tour while the deluxe one does that, too, plus a rim-to-rim helicopter ride."

South Rim

The South Rim is the king of air-only tours (the National Park Service has banned aircraft from flying below the rim), the best of which is the 50-minute tour. "This is a remarkable flight," said Kravitz. It goes from Tusayan airport and includes everything from the Park's eastern boundary to the Dragoon Corridor. Up to 75 percent of the National Park will have been seen once the traveler finishes this trip.

There is also a host of air/ground packages, available, too, with the one that includes a sunset Jeep tour being the all-time favorite. "This is tour is ridiculously popular," noted Kravitz. "It kicks off with a 30-minute helicopter ride that goes from the South Rim to the North Rim before concluding with a Jeep trip that covers all the Park's key landmarks."
