GRAND CANYON HELICOPTERS' POSTS NEW DEALS FOR LABOR DAY 2014
Industry: Tours

Summer is almost over. Labor Day is the last 3-day holiday. To celebrate, try a discounted Canyon helicopter tour!

(TRAVPR.COM) USA - August 25th, 2014 - The final major summer U.S. holiday is quickly approaching and Grand Canyon Helicopters, the leading provider of National Park air tours and information, has just posted its newest Labor Day specials.

"Labor Day is Monday, September 1, and it's the last three-day weekend of the summer," said Keith Kravitz, owner of Grand Canyon Helicopters. "In anticipation of this holiday, prices on helicopter tours will be marked down so all travelers can afford the air tour of their dreams."

Helicopter tours are available from Las Vegas, NV, and South Rim, Arizona, which is actually Tusayan, AZ, the small town that rests 10-minutes from the front gates of the National Park.

Flights depart daily and nearly on the hour. "Scheduling is such that the greatest number of passengers can be accommodated," noted Kravitz. "Historically, Labor Day weekend has proven to be one of the busiest holidays of the year so being prepared is paramount."

Las Vegas

From Las Vegas, travelers will be able to choose form air-only trips as well as landing tours. "Aerial trips go over Lake Mead, Hoover Dam and the Canyon before returning to Vegas," said Kravitz. "Landing tours follow the same flight path before landing at the bottom or the top."

Kravitz noted that one landing tour in particular gets the lion share of bookings. "The flight that goes to the bottom for a Champagne Picnic is the best seller," he said. "Travelers love it, especially the extended version where a boat ride down the Colorado River is included."

Helicopters that go below the rim and to the bottom are only available from Las Vegas. Further, Vegas travelers can choose to depart from The Strip or from nearby suburb airstrips. "The better deal is to go from the Strip because those packages include stretch limousine service and a tour over the Las Vegas Strip."

South Rim

The two helicopter flights that are on sale for Labor Day include the 30-minute ad 50-minute flights. The shorter one goes from the South Rim to the North Rim and back and includes the Dragoon Corridor, the widest, deepest section of the Canyon. However, according to Kravitz, the 50-minute tour is the one that's best.

"The longer air tour includes everything the shorter one does plus all the sights up to the eastern boundary of the National Park," he said. "There's also more time spent over the North Rim and the Colorado River Confluence, and when the tour is done one will have seen up to 75 percent of the Park."

Final Tips

Holiday helicopter tours are prone to sell out a week or two in advance, and, according to Kravitz, the best way to circumvent this is to book ahead of time. "This is definitely a situation where the traveler who plans ahead gets the best tour," he noted. "Of course, there might be some seats available within 72 hours of departure time, but those tickets are very limited and typically cost more."
