Good news for Lonavala lovers that seaplane service began this Monday.
(TRAVPR.COM) INDIA - August 27th, 2014 - Good news for Lonavala lovers as the Mumbai to Lonavala seaplane service takes off. The seaplane service began this Monday when London resident, Raj Tanwar boarded the plane with his in laws and other relatives at the cost of Rs. 2,999 per person. They had a 30-minute ride in the nine-seater Cessna 208 amphibian plane to Pawana Dam near Lonavala. The non-scheduled service of the plane is being operated by Maritime Energy Heli Air Services (Mehair).
Planes: There are two planes- nine-seater Cessna 208 and four-seater Cessna 206. The company is further planning to offer four-seater seaplane on charter for Rs. 65,000 an hour. The Cessna planes take off only when there is a visibility of at least 5 km or more at origin and destination. This is done as per the regulations given by the current Director General of Civil Aviation.
Travelling cost of seaplane service: The ticket price for this service is Rs. 2,999 for one way trip. This is a promotional offer and public can look for revised rates after September 15. As per company sources, flights till September 15 are almost full and a few seats are available for week-day service. Tickets for this service can be booked on the company website.
Mehair Co-founder and Director, Sidhharth Verma said that he is willing to operate even with one passenger."Schedule integrity is important for us," he said.
Future Plans: Mehair is planning to introduce three more amphibian planes by the end of this year. The company also plans to start services to Mula Dam, Gangapur Dam and Dhom Dam (all in Maharashtra) and joyrides in Goa. Also, there are plans to offer non-scheduled intra-Gujarat flight from later this year with support from the local government and start ground training school. The plan may also complete with maintenance, repair and operations.
