The summer season is swiftly ending and fall is almost here! Fall brings crisp air, beautiful leaves and lots of outdoor fairs and festivals for families to enjoy in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire!

Stroll around the Farmers’ Market at Tanger Outlets in Tilton, NH and pick up some delicious fruits, vegetables, cheeses and meats! The market is open every Friday from 3pm -7pm through September 26th.  Celebrate fall at the Shaker Harvest Festival at the Enfield Shaker Museum on September 20th from 10am – 4pm. A yearly tradition, the Shaker Harvest Festival is full day of fun including pony rides, hay stack treasure hunts, cider making, butter churning as well as other traditional shaker harvest activities!

Here are a few of the highly anticipated events going on in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire this September:

-          It’s Hawk Season at the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center in Holderness, NH. Start with an orientation to hawk watching, including closeup views of live hawks. Then travel to the Lakes Region’s best hawk watch site to see some in their natural habitat! A great, educational experience with the entire family – bring a packed lunch! Meet at the Squam Lake s Natural Science Center on September 14th at 10am!

-          The Franklin Opera House is hosting Tim Sample, New England’s premier native humorist and 11 year correspondent on CBS News on September 20th at 7:30pm in Franklin, NH.

-          The 5Th Annual Harvest Festival at Prescott Farm in Laconia, NH will be held on September 13th from 10am – 3pm. This free event is great for the entire family with hayrides, face painting, music and more!

-          The Highland Games at Loon Mountain is a great place to learn about the Scottish culture – enjoy food, music and the Heavy Athletic games with participations from around the world! This event runs from September 19th – 21st in Lincoln, NH.

-          Sunday Champagne Brunch aboard the M/S Mount Washington includes jazz entertainment and stunning views of the Lake! Join them, Sunday September 28th at 10am.
