Experience Scotland like never before on European Waterways’ Scottish Highlander, bookings for 2015 available now
(TRAVPR.COM) UNITED STATES - October 2nd, 2014 - It’s the end of golf’s fabled Ryder Cup in Scotland, but for avid golfers, the game never ends. European Waterways, Europe’s largest luxury hotel barge cruising company, has announced two new golf themed cruises in the land where it all began, Scotland, aboard the Scottish Highlander hotel barge, May 10th and October 4th 2015. Golf-themed whole boat charters can be booked all season, but these designated cruises allow golfers who just want to book individual cabins to meet like-minded people. Other tours are available on these cruises for non-golfer guests.
Rates for the Scottish Highlander golf-themeddepartures start at $4,090 per person, and include all meals, wines, an open bar, numerous other daily escorted excursions, local transfers and admissions. Whole boat charters are also available starting at $22,000.A $900 per person supplement applies for all bookings, including charters, for those wishing to play golf. Guests who do not wish to play do not pay the supplement.
Highlights include a round at the world renowned Royal Dornoch Championship, an 18-hold Par 70 golf course. The next day is a round at the 18-hole, Par 72 Castle Stuart, where guests play overlooking the Moray Firth, an inlet of the North Sea. Lunch is onboard the Scottish Highlander, followed by a cruise through Loch Ness, where shy “Nessie” – otherwise known as the Loch Ness Monster – may join the party – or not! Also on the itinerary is a round of golf at the Fort Augustus golf course – a unique and scenic hidden gem considered among the hardest nine-hole golf course in Scotland, and possibly the hardest Par 67 in the country. It’s also probably the only golf course you’ll ever play where sheep are allowed to roam freely!
“We are thrilled to offer guests the opportunity to play on some of the most challenging, scenic, and historic golf courses in Scotland,” said Derek Banks, managing director of European Waterways. “Whether you are a novice inspired by the Ryder Cup or a seasoned pro looking to sharpen your swing, the Scottish Highlander is, without a doubt, an unforgettable experience for any golf enthusiast.”
Golf cruises include four pre-booked tee times and transfers to and from the clubs. Rates are based on double occupancy.
