Showcasing Malta to North Americans Through a Travel Blogging Campaign
(TRAVPR.COM) CANADA / USA - Malta has traditionally been recognized as a sun and sand destination to Europeans with little exposure of its significant treasures to the North American traveler. A big push to change this perception is underway through a variety of efforts geared to engage the more cultured traveler.
Malta Tourism (Visit Malta) has created the #MaltaisMore project to bring together 70 bloggers over 12 weeks from all over the world. Its first session gathered 40 bloggers to the capital city of Valletta whereas the second session is taking place on the stunning island of Gozo.
Malta itself is an archipelago of 3 islands in the Mediterranean which include Malta, Gozo and Comino. This jewel of the Mediterranean lies just 60 miles from the coast of Sicily but boats a history, culture and impression that is one of a kind. Culture and history centric travelers will marvel at the opportunity to explore a civilization that is over 7000 years old (with temples some 1000 years older than the pyramids), and a rich history influenced by the Knights of St. John and a plethora of other civilizations who shaped Malta and its people. The fact that English is a national language, in addition to Maltese, bodes well for any English-speaking traveler.
Damon Allan of MAXIMA Tours has been chosen as the North American travel blogger for the second session of the #MaltaisMore campaign due to its current action with tours to Malta. "We've really started to make a big push in the United States and Canada for tours to Malta," says Operations Manager and travel blogger, Damon Allan. He goes on to say, "We believe that through additional efforts such as the #MaltaisMore project, we'll be able to open up so many possibilities for the discerning and cultured traveler to Malta."
The #MaltaisMore campaign is to continue until the end of the month. You can track all of the activity through the #MaltaisMore hash-tag on Twitter or on the social wall at http://blogisland.visitmalta.com/.
