(TRAVPR.COM) THAILAND - November 18th, 2014 - Bangkok, November 18 -- Members of Thailand’s Golf In A Kingdom marketing collective scooped the major awards at the Asia Pacific Golf Summit held in Singapore last weekend. Black Mountain Golf Club, which will host a European Tour event next February, was named best course in Asia, best championship course in Asia and best course in Thailand. It is the fourth year in a row Black Mountain has collected the top award for Thailand, reflecting the quality and attention to detail at the course, which opened in 2007. It has since staged several Asian Tour events and has won a bevy of local and international awards. The course will host the Thailand Classic, a new event co-sanctioned by the European Tour and Asian Tour, from February 12-15, 2015. Black Mountain’s Harald Elisson was named general manager of the year for Asia at the Singapore summit, attended by golf industry professionals from around the world. Thai Country Club in Bangkok was named first runner up behind Black Mountain in the Thailand awards category, with Banyan Golf Club at Hua Hin, third. Banyan’s Stacey Walton was named among the top three general managers of the year in Asia, while other Banyan employees were also recognised: Stuart Daley was named Asia’s golf operations manager of the year, Khun Minachai Srichanya received the course superintendent of the year award and Khun Kannika Namthong was awarded caddie of the year. Black Mountain, Thai Country Club and Banyan GC are all members of Golf In A Kingdom – as is Lotus Valley Golf Resort near Bangkok, which was named best value for money course in Asia. Originally designed by Gary Player, it was remodelled in 2009 using the original routing and remains one of the most enjoyable layouts in the greater Bangkok area. The program manager for Golf In A Kingdom, John Carter, said the awards to member courses demonstrated the quality of their golf and services and once again demonstrated Thailand – and especially Golf In A Kingdom member courses – offered a second-to-none golfing experience. “The number of repeat visitors to Thailand and to Golf In A Kingdom courses shows why the kingdom is the clear leader in golf tourism in Asia. People from all around the world love playing golf here and keep coming back,” he said. Golf In A Kingdom is Asia's leading golf tourism collective. It comprises golf courses, hotels and resorts throughout the country and with the co-oepration of the Tourism Authority of Thailand promotes golf tourism to the kingdom.
