New yearly peak for travel wages
Average salaries for new travel jobs have risen for the third successive month and have now reached their highest point so far this year. November’s total of £25,584 marked a 2.21 per cent increase from October and a huge 6.15 per cent rise from the same point last year, according to the latest Travel Salary Index from C&M Travel Recruitment and Chisholm & Moore Executive Recruitment, which assessed all new roles registered at the companies during the month.
What’s more, the three-month average figure (which gives a more accurate indication of recent trends) is also up on both a monthly and annual basis, while pay for new standard travel roles has broken through the £20,000 barrier again.
“With salaries rising in the north, south and across the UK as a whole, the travel recruitment market really is ending 2014 on a high,” said Barbara Kolosinska, sales director at C&M Travel Recruitment and Chisholm & Moore Executive Recruitment.
“Average salaries for new travel jobs are now the highest they have been all year and we haven’t seen this much activity in the market for at least the past six years, so we are fully expecting 2015 to get off to a positive - and busy – start!”
Candidates focus on jobs pre-Christmas
Following the trend of recent months, the travel jobs market remained extremely busy in November with candidate registrations seeing double digit annual growth, while the amount of travel job vacancies also remained far ahead of the average for 2014 so far.
However, there was a more mixed picture across the country with London seeing a dip in new standard vacancies, while C&M’s Reigate office recorded its highest number of new roles for over a year.
Ms Kolosinska said: “Last month saw lots more candidates registering their interest in new roles, which is great to see as it indicates that they aren’t simply content to wait until the New Year before thinking about the next stage of their career.
“And, with lots of new travel jobs being created every day, there are certainly plenty of opportunities for them to secure a great new role immediately.”
