Visitor predictions increased for holidays in South West France in 2015

Midi Pyrenees Owners Club based in the heart of the Midi-Pyrenees is already preparing for an influx of holiday makers for 2015

Richard Woollam the owner of Midi Pyrenees Owners' Clubs said at a local meeting "The global credit crunch has had no impact on the quality nor quantity of visitors to our small but perfectly formed picturesque bastide region here in the heart of the Midi-Pyrenees"

Woollam reported a 20% increase in 2014 from 2013 in the number of visitors staying in gites, villas and farmhouses within the region and predicted an increase of visitors in 2015 and more holiday makers outside the traditional holiday season, with May, June and September also attracting a higher number of holiday makers.

The strength of sterling will also give impetus to holidaying in this area of beautiful  French countryside along with the success of the film "The Hundred Foot Journey" starring Helen Mirren and the soon to be shown BBC episode of "Escape To The Continent"

Woollam went on to say "A decade ago the Tarn et Garonne, was one of the best kept secrets in France, but today it is many peoples idea of a dream holiday destination, with its warm almost Mediterranean climate, its superb architecture, the beautiful rivers and  deep gorges surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, and its eclectic mix of French and Catalan cuisines."

The mayor (Monsieur Gerard Agam) of Saint Antonin Noble Val ( a beautiful medieval village in the Midi Pyrenees)  says he considers tourism to be one of the major contributors to the town's economy and is keen to see visitor numbers grow as people around the world become more aware of the possibilities of holidaying in the region. 

In his summing up Woollam concluded "With its lush green countryside, surrounding medieval bastide towns with their bright bustling markets, this area of France  is at once exotic and sophisticated, relaxing and revitalising, astonishing and inviting."
