(TRAVPR.COM) CHINA - March 18th, 2015 - Award-winning travel company WildChina is venturing into new lands with a set of private journeys exploring Bhutan. The three journeys each have a distinct flavor, showcasing the breadth of tourism offerings in this isolated Himalayan kingdom, from Amankora’s ultra luxury lodges to rustic high country trekking.
A pioneer in China luxury adventure travel, WildChina’s philosophy is anchored around making remote travel gems accessible for discerning visitors. It was the first company to operate luxury adventure trips to Shangri-La, and its expedition to trace the ancient Tea and Horse trading route along China’s Himalayan border holds critical acclaim as a National Geographic Traveler ‘Tour of a Lifetime.’
Founder and CEO Mei Zhang is excited to add Bhutan to WildChina’s portfolio.
“The first trip WildChina undertook was in the Tibetan region of Yunnan so ever since the beginning, I have held a fascination for the Himalayan regions. This compelled me to explore further into Himalayan cultures, in Tibet, Nepal and Bhutan. Bhutan may be the last frontier. One of the most untouched places in the world due to its geographic, economic and political isolation. It is a fascinating place where unique philosophies, such as Gross National Happiness, have enabled the country to preserve its traditional way of life in the face of globalization. It is the sort of wild and inaccessible place that fits perfectly in our WildChina Adventure collection, journeys that focus on enabling discovery in lesser explored lands.”
Land of the Thunder Dragon is a 5-day introductory foray into Bhutan’s must-see experiences – fertile Punakha Valley and iconic Tiger’s Nest hanging monastery. For those who have a couple more days to roam, Kingdom in the Clouds delves a little deeper into Bhutanese national treasures, such as their prized black-necked canes in Gangtey. The Druk Path offers keen hikers a 5-day trek that reaches heights of over 13,000ft to see breathtaking views of the Himalayas, whilst enjoying a full service deluxe camping experience along the way.
The launch of the Bhutan journeys kicks off WildChina’s 15Years Wild anniversary celebrations. WildChina, started in 2000 by Ms Zhang a Yunnan native and Harvard MBA, will be commemorating a decade and a half of travel milestones and industry-changing ideas.
It also marks the start of a new chapter for WildChina as the company expands its signature bespoke services beyond China to the wider Asian region.
“15 is a significant landmark for us,” says Ms Zhang. “We’re proud of how far we’ve come, but what excites us even more is how far there is to go and the possibilities yet to be explored. Expect more exiting new things to come out of WildChina this year – new destinations, new initiatives, new adventures.”
