Singapore, 18 March 2015 – ACI HR Solutions has today released the 2015 Travel and Hospitality Industry Salary and Employment Trends Report. The report can be downloaded at http://www.acihr.com/salary-report
Speaking at the inaugural ACI HR Summit held at One Farrer Hotel & Spa and attended by HR and Travel & Hospitality professionals, ACI’s Founder & CEO, Andrew Chan said this year’s results once again showed why Asia is the hotbed for the travel and hospitality sector, with 60 per cent of all respondents who participated in the survey indicating they had received a pay increase in the last 12 months.
“The results of the 2015 survey was more modest to recent years but undoubtable indicates positive market conditions.” Mr Chan said.
Salary continues to be an important factor for candidates, however, the importance of career development was similar to recent results with a total of 68 per cent of all respondents indicating that career progression was either ‘extremely important’ or ‘very important’, with only 4 per cent saying career progression was not important.
Pleasingly 39 per cent of those surveyed said they believed that their current employer offered ‘excellent’ or ‘good’ opportunities for career progression, compared with the 34 per cent seen in 2014. However, 26 per cent of respondents felt career prospects with their present employer were ‘poor’ or ‘zero’ compared to 22 per cent from the previous survey. Perhaps more alarming for employers, and for the first time asked in the survey, 49 per cent of respondents indicated that they would change employers in 2015, with 11 per cent of those contemplating exiting the industry altogether.
Launched in January, the survey this year attracted over 900 respondents from 11 countries across the Asia Pacific region. These range from company CEOs, Managing Directors and General Managers through to middle management and front line staff.
The largest proportion of respondents (56 per cent) was based in Singapore with China (12 per cent), Hong Kong (7 per cent) and Thailand (6 per cent) also providing strong samples.
Underlining their reputation as surging economies in the region, average salaries from respondents in China and Indonesia both grew by (21 per cent) according to the 2015 survey. This was followed by Thailand (13 per cent) and Australia (9 per cent). On actual highest average salaries from the survey, that once again belonged to Macau with (U$108,040), followed by Australia (U$89,207) and Hong Kong (U$82,975). The Philippines posted the survey’s lowest average salary (U$44,042).
