Waterville Valley, NH – With temperatures rising, counselors are beginning work on Waterville Valley Resort’s Skateboard Park as they get ready for Skateboard Camp this summer. While the slopes of Waterville Valley Resort host thousands of skiers and riders every day during the winter, the variety of summer activities still draw visitors in the summer, especially Skateboard Camp.
With the snow beginning to melt, staff has begun readying the park by clearing off the ramps, rails, and transitions. New features are also being built so that they can be installed as soon as colder temperatures have moved on. The Skateboard Park is ever changing, so campers can always look forward to something new each summer.
“Waterville Valley Skateboard Camp is like no other camp in New England. We only take 36 campers per week and 18 on weekends to ensure the campers have individualized coaching. We pride ourselves on the close-knit community feel of our camp, which we achieve by maintaining a staff to camper ratio of 1:6,” says Camp Director, Luke Mathison. “It’s also the only overnight camp in New Hampshire 100% run by skateboarders, for skateboarders.”
Waterville Valley Skateboard Camp boasts an impressive roster of sponsors, including Oakley, Circa, Creep Show Skateboards, Skullcandy, Red Bull Skateboarding, Volcom, Eastern Boarder, Bern, i.N.i Cooperative, DC Shoes, and Habitat. Waterville Valley Skateboard Camp sponsors send enough product for a huge end of session contest each week, with some sponsors even sending out team riders to skate and hang with the campers.
All overnight campers stay in the Town Square Condominiums, centrally located in the heart of Town Square and just footsteps away from the Skateboard Park and Corcoran Pond. With the camp located at the resort, it gives campers an opportunity to take part in plenty of other activities such as mountain biking, hiking, swimming, tennis, and golf.
