The first luxury train of India, Palace on Wheels has registered highest occupancy alluring travelers from all around the world
(TRAVPR.COM) India - Aprul 3rd, 2015 - Palace on Wheels (POW), the luxury train of Rajasthan, has recorded highest occupancy of 111 tourists for the first time in this season 2014-15, an official of Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC) informed on Thursday.
Vikram Singh, Managing Director of RTDC and Director Tourism said that there were 111 tourists on-board the Palace on Wheels train that chugged along to take the guest on a trip down the history lane in the land of Maharajas Rajasthan. This departure marks the highest occupancy for Palace on Wheels with full numbers.
Along with a few Indian travelers, tourists from countries like South Africa, United States of America, Sweden, Germany, Canada, Britain, Switzerland and France are amongst those who are on board to enjoy sounds and sights of Rajasthan during the course of 7 nights itinerary that include destinations such as Jaipur, Udaipur, Sawai Madhopur, Jaisalmer, Chittorgarh, Bharatpur, Jodhpur, Delhi and Agra.
The journey started from Safdurjung Railway Station from Delhi, and after arriving at Gandhi Nagar station, Jaipur, the passengers enjoyed a traditional welcome.
Composed of the original private cars used by the Maharajas, Nizams and Viceroys of India, Palace on Wheels was launched in 1982 to promote tourism in Rajasthan and aimed specifically at the discerning travelers from foreign countries. The original carriages were later replaced with the replica coaches to accommodate modern amenities yet preserving the decadence and elegance of a bygone era.
