ZUJI and MasterCard® support a dream come true for students from low-income families
(TRAVPR.COM) SINGAPORE - April 27th, 2015 - Singapore – 27 May 2015 – Today, ZUJI Singapore, the region’s leading online travel agent, announced a partnership with The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund (SPMF) and MasterCard to provide resources and experiences for Singapore’s under-privileged kids. As one of the richest countries in the world, it’s easy to forget that there are children from low-income families. ZUJI understands the impact that a disadvantaged home can have on a child’s future possibilities. This collaboration supports the ZUJI belief that every child – regardless of background – deserves a strong start in life and a dream holiday.
The partnership, which falls within the ZUJI ‘A Lot Like Love’ campaign, taps into the growing desire to give back to the less fortunate. SPMF was selected as an ideal partner given its worthwhile cause of helping children get the right start – whether it be ensuring they have enough money for a proper breakfast or to sustain their day in school, or easing the family’s financial burden in providing for their children's education and school needs.
Chua Hui Wan, CEO for ZUJI Singapore shared the reasons behind the collaboration, “At ZUJI, we believe that opportunities should not be hampered by background or financial burdens. All children deserve the right to experience special events and see unique places. The joy of travel is for everyone, and through this partnership with MasterCard and SPMF, we hope to create bright and worldly possibilities for students in need.”
Assisting SPMF in their mission, ZUJI will donate $0.50 for every new Facebook like on ZUJI Singapore’s Facebook Page from today until 1 November, and $2.50 for every booking made with a MasterCard during selected periods.
Continuing the support on a more personal level, ZUJI and MasterCard will be spreading the fairy tale spirit to over 40 SPMF beneficiaries by treating them to the Beauty and the Beast musical at Marina Bay Sands MasterCard Theatres. The kids will also enjoy an exclusive meet-and-greet with the theatre characters after the production, getting the opportunity to ask questions and mingle with the stars.
Extending the outreach to the beneficiaries and their families, come November, ZUJI will celebrate the joy of travel by surprising two low-income families from SPMF, who have not had the resources to go overseas, with all-expense paid holidays.
“It is truly wonderful to experience the culture and sights of a foreign country, and it is even better when you relish it with your family. We want to give these two families the gift of travel without any financial worry. We hope the experience will not only be something that will stay with them for years to come, but open their eyes to a different worldly perspective and be a continuous inspiration for brighter future possibilities,” said Ms. Chua.
Nagesh Devata, Senior Vice President for MasterCard, Asia Pacific Acceptance and Merchant Development shared his thoughts on the partnership and initiatives, “MasterCard is delighted to be partnering with SPMF and ZUJI to provide the trip of a lifetime to families that can’t otherwise afford to travel. The experience will allow families to take a break from everyday pressures and share priceless moments that will be remembered for years to come,”.
Travellers keen to contribute to the work of SPMF via their holiday bookings, can do so by completing their booking on ZUJI with a MasterCard. Each eligible booking will earn SPMF a donation of $2.50 from now till 3 May 2015. A similar initiative will be commencing in October 2015.
To reward consumers, ZUJI will also be offering 13% off hotels and 25% off fuel surcharges and travel insurance following the global oil slump. Travel must be made by 31 October 2015.
