(TRAVPR.COM) NEPAL - May 7th, 2015 - Tibet, known to the world as "The Roof of the World" and "The Third Pole of the Earth", is located at the Northern border of Nepal. With an average altitude of 4000(13000 ft.) meters, Tibet is the biggest and the highest plateau in the world. The unique geographical setting, the magnificent snowcapped peaks, the unique culture & traditions and of course, the Tibetan Buddhism, have all attributed to making this mystique plateau as one of most favored tourist destinations on the planet. It was only in the early 80's that Tibet unshackled its gate for the tourist amusement.
It is now absolutely palpable to travel to this magical land and witness its marvelous beauty and rare heritages.
Mount Kailash (22,028 ft, 6,714 m), the famed holy peak, is situated to the north of the Himalayan barrier in western Tibet. This legendary snow-shrouded rock dome is one of the most revered pilgrimage sites for Hindus, Buddhists, Jains and Bonpos (Pre-Buddhists). This sacred and iconic mountain draws pilgrims from India, Nepal, Mongolia, Tibet, Japan, China, Southeast Asia and other parts of the world. At the slopes of Kailash, a stream is said to pour into Manasarovar and from this lake, there flows four of Asia's great rivers, viz. The Indus, The Brahmaputra, The Karnali and The Sutlej.
From over a thousand years, pilgrims have journeyed here to pay homage to the mountain's mystery, pursuing this unique ritual of circumambulating it, which continues to this day. Their faith proclaims that not just the mountain's ice - capped summit but in fact the entire region, is the abode of the Gods.
