The young cricketers of the Gold Coast Juniors Cricket Team, and their families visited Sri Lanka between 05th and 17th April 2015, to participate in a cricket tour of the island.
(TRAVPR.COM) SRI LANKA - May 26th, 2015 - The young cricketers of the Gold Coast Juniors Cricket Team, and their families visited Sri Lanka between 05th and 17th April 2015, to participate in a cricket tour of the island. The purpose of the tour was to give the junior team a chance at experiencing Sri Lankan cricket as well as local culture. They were accompanied by their coaches Richard Griffiths and Nick Perera.
The under 15 players had matches scheduled with over 5 leading national school teams in the country.
As part of their Sri Lanka travel itinerary they also went onto tour some popular destinations including Colombo, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Galle. They were able to visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, as well as explore Kandy City and Galle City and its surroundings.
While staying at Jetwing Lighthouse in Galle the team was able to experience and take part in the traditional Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebrations. They took part in games like pillow fighting, gunny sack race and more.
Furthermore they took time off the tour to visit orphaned children at Maggona. Here they were able to speak with the children, play games and share their experiences.
