Grasshopper Adventures add a new itinerary to their range of pioneering cycling tours with their NEW 'North by Northeast', visiting remote northeast Thailand.
(TRAVPR.COM) THAILAND - June 17th, 2015 - The northeast of Thailand is one of the country’s least visited areas, although it is a fascinating region where the Mekong River forms the border with Laos. Grasshopper Adventures now offers the opportunity to explore this beautiful part of Thailand on the latest addition to their range of adventurous ‘Pioneering’ cycling tours.
Discover the transition from the valleys of the north and their forested mountain slopes to the plateau of the northeast. This innovative new tour takes riders through Phu Soi Doi National Park, one Thailand's most recently created and remote National Parks, famous for its cool weather and pine trees, while spending a day with school children from far-flung mountain schools and a night in a traditional village home.
Travelling through parts unfrequented by tourists and widely regarded as remote, each day presents a unique opportunity to experience the life of rural villages little changed over the years. The riding, while challenging, is intensely rewarding with many undulating hills and some steeper ascents, offering views of the Mekong River and its turbulent rapids, with the mountains of Laos in the distance.
Positioned in Grasshopper’s ‘Pioneering’ range of tours - itineraries which follow roads less travelled - the accommodation on this trip is mostly simple, but clean and comfortable, as the nature of the area dictates. One night is spent on an overnight train while the last night of the tour offers a much higher standard hotel.
