Grasshopper adventures add a new bike tour to their Thailand range with the ‘Chiang Mai Cycling Discovery’ 5-day tour to Chiang Mai and its surroundings.
(TRAVPR.COM) THAILAND - June 29th, 2015 - Chiang Mai is a firm favourite with travellers, with its many fascinating temples, lively night markets and great range of accommodation and restaurants. Grasshopper Adventures are offering a fun and alternative way of experiencing this wonderful city and its surroundings with their new ‘Chiang Mai Cycling Discovery’ tour, biking the main sites of the city itself, before heading out into the countryside, to Lamphun, Mae On and Mae Kampong, and culminating with an exhilarating ride on the zip lines of the ‘Flight of the Gibbon’.
The tour starts with a guided tour of Chiang Mai, meandering through the old town on two wheels, through back streets and along the ancient moat, visiting many of the city’s temples and other historic sites. Heading out of town the following day, the tour takes riders to the Wat U Mong forest temple, skirts the foot of the hills to the Botanical Gardens, then continues on to a Bee Keeper Training centre and a handicraft village before ending the day in the old town of Lamphun.
Leaving Lamphun the riding trail heads through rice paddies and small villages with quiet Buddhist temples. The cycling ends at hot springs to soothe tired muscles, from where a transfer takes guests up to the mountains for an evening spent alongside a gurgling stream.
The tour concludes with an adrenaline rush on the final day, flying through the tress on zip-lines with ‘Flight of the Gibbon’, before the return transfer to Chiang Mai.
The 5-day tour includes 3 days of relaxed cycling to cover a distance of 115km, on sealed rural lanes and back roads. The ride is mostly flat and easy, with some small, short hills, and a support vehicle always on hand to rest tired legs. The hotels have been selected for their locations, comfort, character and style, with 2 nights in Chiang Mai at a boutique hotel located in the old city and the remaining 2 nights in more modest but homely properties convenient to the route.
