The luxury serviced apartments joined the CSR activity part of Marriott’s “Spirit to Preserve” global commitment to sustainability.
(TRAVPR.COM) Thailand - July 8th, 2015 - Marriott Executive Apartments Mayfair-Chidlom, together the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), recently joined the reforestation activity to plant mangroves at mangrove forest in Ban Keow, Samutsongkram.
Planting mangroves is more than just a goodwill effort. Not only do Thailand’s mangrove forests serve as a haven for biodiversity and carbon collection, they also protect the coastline from severe storms and sea-level rise. Over the past 40 years, more than half of the country’s mangroves have been destroyed, and the hotel is partnering with IUCN to reverse the damage.
As part of Marriott “Spirit to Preserve” program, the hotels helps fund local community efforts, and together with more than 50 associates join a force for positive change, with the mission of helping to restore inland coastal areas and avoid landslides.
Our connections allow us to stay in tune with our neighbors and thereby better serve our guests. The guests can also contribute to the reforestation efforts by making a donation of 30 THB per night while staying the hotel.
