(TRAVPR.COM) NEPAL - August 7th, 2015 -  Nepal…what’s the catch?

Whenever one talks about Nepal, s/he generally pictures the mighty Everest (8848m) and an array of other astounding mountains. But that’s not the only catch….here are more of them that are equally special, but their names might not have made it to the lips of the riff raff!

·  Lumbini, the birthplace of the icon of peace and benignancy, Lord Buddha.

·  Kali Gandaki, the deepest river gorge in the world.

·  “Kumari”, known as the Living Goddess;

·  Stunningly beautiful sacred lakes

·  Hotel Everest View, located at the height of 3870m in the Everest National Park, believed to be the highest altitude hotel in the world.

· Kathmandu, the flamboyant capital of Nepal, characterized by a plethora of ancient temples, palaces and idols.

·  The non-rectangular national flag.

·  A country akin to a garden, epitomizing the harmony of 4 castes and 36 sub-castes.

Nepal’s climatic condition

The climatic condition of Nepal is governed by its topographical extremities. The Terai belt, Midland Hills and Alpine region experience Tropical, Temperate and Tundra types of climate respectively. Owing to this diverse topography and the subsequent variety in climate, it is believed that the migrating birds do not have to leave Nepal. Nepal's weather is generally predictable and pleasant.

Trekking in Nepal can be pursued throughout the year, but yes, all the seasons are definitely not the best for trekking. There are four seasons in Nepal:

Ø  Autumn (Sept- Nov): The trekking conditions are fabulous. The weather is good, offering crystal clear mountain views.

Ø  Winter (Dec- Feb): The trekking condition aren’t really promising on the high elevations, however there is no problem at all, trekking below 3000 meters.

Ø  Spring (March – May): Well, anything good that we say about this season is not enough! The trekking trails are embellished with colorful wild flowers; the pinky rhododendron is the major highlight. Although it is mildly warm at the lower elevations, the temperature at the altitude over 4000 meters is moderate. The mountain views are excellent.

Summer (Jun- Aug): Summer in Nepal continues until mid September, making the travel wet and warm. These times are perfect for the keen botanists, as the higher valleys and meadows blossom with flowers and lush vegetation.
