Waterville Valley, NH -- Come to Waterville Valley after Thanksgiving on Friday, November 27 and Saturday, November 28, for a weekend of fun. There are things to do for everyone from the Turkey Shot Free Throw Contest, the 3rd Annual Cold Turkey Plunge, and even a visit from Santa. Join in on the festivities by playing some basketball, raise funds and jump into Corcoran Pond (ice), or relax and enjoy some hot chocolate as fall turns into winter. The festivities are capped off when Santa arrives by dog sled.
Starting on Friday, November 27, the Waterville Valley Recreation Department will be host a Turkey Shot Free Throw Contest. Come from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and test your skills.
Next is the Cold Turkey Plunge, on November 28 with a swim in the icy waters of Corcoran Pond. This fundraising event that benefits the Waterville Valley Adaptive Sports program, which provides athletic opportunities for people with cognitive and physical disabilities. Teams are being asked to raise a minimum of $50, which comes along with an “Empowered Bracelet,” official “Cold Turkey Plunge” long sleeve T-shirt, and a cold turkey sandwich compliments of Chef Sean Stout from the Coyote Grille. Prizes will also be given away for most donations by an individual, most donations by a team, as well as best costume (optional) – so come prepared!
Following these events, linger in Town Square, welcome in the winter season and greet Santa and his dog sled team at 3:30 p.m. Cookies and hot chocolate will be sold to benefit the United Way of New Hampshire. Santa will stick around and meet with children in the Adventure Center before the tree lighting and fireworks show at 7 p.m.
