Events on Kuramathi
September was a busy month for Kuramathi with two major events taking place on the green island in Ari Atoll. Clean up the World Weekend; which took place on 18th September and World Tourism Day on 27th September. The agenda laid out some interesting programs for guests and team members alike.
Clean up the World Weekend gathered eager guests (with minimum Open Water certification) for a fun clean-up dive on the lagoon of Kuramathi. Led by the professional team of Rasdhoo Divers, guests were divided into groups with a mission to scout for any lingering piece of debris underwater. Garbage was collected and put in sturdy bags, where at the end a group photo was taken to capture the accomplishment. Fresh coconuts were served to the hardworking divers with a toast to celebrate the success of the event.
In light of World Tourism Day, a special presentation focusing on the effects of climate change on coral reefs was given by our resident marine biologist at the Eco Centre. This stimulating and highly debated subject was later followed up by a special documentary screening at Fung Bar.
Thank you everyone who joined us for these events, and for helping us keep take care of our environment.
