A1 Travel holidays is continuing its push to increase market share in Greek Island holidays by increasing the number of holidays on offer and launching a huge marketing campaign.
(TRAVPR.COM) UNITED KINGDOM - November 5th, 2015 - A1 Travel is one of the UK’s fastest growing online travel agents. The firm continues to expand into new areas and to increase its market share.
From 2016, the firm is offering flights and holidays to 18 destinations in the Greek islands. The firm is now offering exclusive hotel deals in a number of top destinations in Greece, including the resorts of Rhodes, Crete, Lesbos, Halkidiki, Zante, Santorini, Mykonos, Naxos, Kefalonia, Glyfada, Corfu, Preveza and Samos.
Nick Lima who is the firm’s head of commerce told the press:
"Doubling advertising spend to Greek islands with the view of increasing sales and passenger numbers illustrates that A1 Travel are fully committed in supporting Greek tourism after a torrid 2015”
Mr Lima went on to explain why the firm had chosen the Greek islands. He said:
“Greece is an area that we have identified that has huge growth potential”
The fact that tourists are travelling less to Egypt, Tunisia and other formally popular North African destinations is helping to open up an opportunity for the Greek islands.
Temperatures on the Greek islands remain high even during the winter. Something firms like A1 Travel are keen to take advantage of, so they are negotiating with hotel owners to offer more rooms and beds later into the holiday season.
The World Travel and Tourism Council also sees the Greek islands as being ripe for growth. This trade organisation expects tourism in Greece to have risen by 3.6 percent by the end of this year. Growth is expected to continue at a similar rate between now and 2025.
Hoteliers and travel suppliers to Greece can greatly benefit from A1 Travels huge marketing reach. The firm has over 1.2m email subscribers. When a firm the size of A1 Travel launches a marketing campaign, a growth in demand quickly follows.
The recent financial crisis has had a big impact in Greece. As a result, people on the islands are even more welcoming to tourists. It also means that there are some fantastic deals available. Holidaymakers who book far enough in advance are able to stay in five star accommodation, at three star prices.
Tourism is very important to the Greek economy, which is why the government is so supportive of growth in this sector. In 2014, the tourist industry generated 7 percent of the country’s total gross domestic product.
