In the words of Marcel Perkins the Managing Director at Latin Trails:
“The Galapagos Sea Star Journey is not new, it is actually better than NEW :-), as you know, we rebranded the Galapagos Grand Odyssey, but not only did we change the name, we completely overhauled the yacht (we corrected all the small nuisances a new yacht might of had). She was originally built in Guayaquil and launched in 2011, at the time she made news as a true evolution in Galapagos cruising, allowing for comforts that up to the present day are still not available on other yachts in the Galapagos Archipelago. With the present overhaul we are confident she will continue to be the trend bearer in the Galapagos Islands.”
During the maintenance period, employment was offered to an approximate 200 people (carpenters, designers, upholsters, mechanics, electricians, painters, marine engineers amongst others) who carried through the following work:
- Installation of New Eco Friendly Cummins brand motors (less noise, lower fuel consumption, less vibration and more speed... all of these imply a smoother navigation)
- Added an outdoors lounge
- Added a private outside dining area for couples
- Addition of a glass bottom zodiac for those who do not snorkel
- Implementation of FREE INTERNET ACCESS to all guests (only small Galapagos yacht to offer this without cost)
Other important features to remember about the Galapagos Sea Star Journey are: two jacuzzis, sun deck with day beds and loungers(sun and shade area), all upper deck accommodations with ocean views. Largest social and cabin areas on any 16 passenger yacht in the Islands.
In terms of safety, the Galapagos Sea Star Journey complies with all international regulations and is in compliance with all Ecuador naval requirements. She has one of the strongest keels any boat in the archipelago has, it is almost icebreaker strong, imagine a super model with combat boots.
She offers the ultimate flexibility, a yacht that is elegant and practical, it would be fair to compare her with a premium swiss army knife. She has connecting cabins for families, sofa beds in cabins for children, both alfresco and inside dining options, sun and shade deck, an industrial kitchen that allows for any type of meal preparation, glass bottom boat and sea kayaks for non-snorkelers and much more.
Just remember, when cruising the Galapagos Islands:
¨The Luxury is in the Nature!¨
