Camargue is the perfect region for novice skippers to get their “sea legs” thanks to the limited number of locks that they’ll have to navigate throughout the suggested route. Known for its gorgeous beaches, Camargue features the Étang du Thau at Méze, the largest of the lagoons along the Languedoc Coast, that stretches for miles and is a refreshing spot for swimming. Camargue boaters can also fish the clean waters, as well as bike and walk the many scenic trails. They can also do watersports, such as kayaking and paddle boarding.

Wildlife is prominently featured along the Camargue route and is enthusiastically praised by visitors. Cahors, the largest city in the area, features flower-lined streets and old timbered houses perfectly preserved since the Middle Ages. The city, situated on a peninsula with dramatic water views, is known for the famous “black” wine whose origin goes back hundreds of years.  Fishing enthusiasts will enjoy the small village of Caillac, where a man-made lake provides great fishing.
