This year, on Saturday, January 23, the White Mountain Classic 30K returns to Jackson, NH and the Jackson Ski Touring Center for its 12th year. The Classic is part of the New England Marathon Series and the NENSA 1-Day Club Championships.
(TRAVPR.COM) USA - January 17th, 2016 - JACKSON, NH – This year, on Saturday, January 23, the White Mountain Classic 30K returns to Jackson, NH and the Jackson Ski Touring Center for its 12th year. The Classic is part of the New England Marathon Series and the NENSA 1-Day Club Championships.
This classic technique marathon offers several abilities levels the opportunity to compete on some of the countries best maintained and groomed trails. The course utilizes the unique trail system in and around Jackson Village, which includes Jackson’s FIS Homologated Course, Wentworth Golf Course and Eagle Mtn. Fields.
The WMC 30K, which helps support the Mt. Washington Valley Junior Nordic Programs, offers three categories for skiers. Now, through Friday, January 22, those looking to compete at the “Race” and “Tour” level can register for $65.
A 13 and Under Tour category is also offered at a cost of $20 with no field limit if registered by Friday, January 22. Registration fees will increase to $100 for all categories for race day registrations.
The fields for each category are limited to 300 for racers and 100 for touring skiers, which are untimed. All entries include use of food stations, a post race meal, awards and random prizes.
The Jackson Ski Touring Foundation is a community based not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, chartered to maintain trails in and around the charming Village of Jackson, NH. The "Foundation" maintains 150 km of varied and breathtaking cross country ski and snowshoe trails. Foundation trails connect with A.M.C. trails in Pinkham Notch and White Mountain National Forest backcountry adventure trails. The Foundation operates under a Special-Use Permit with the White Mountain National Forest, and with the cooperation of 75 private landowners, and the Village of Jackson.
