(TRAVPR.COM) NEPAL - February 9th, 2016 - Although Nepal is a trekking heaven more than anything else for the adventure seekers there are a plethora of alternative adventures that can pursued here, ranging from the very generic to the most adrenaline. It’s actually akin to an icing over the cake when after some rigorous trekking, you can get indulged in a soothing/relaxing adventure. Or one could rather take up a light trek instead and then get into some thrilling alternative adventure like Bungee Jumping, White Water Rafting etc.

Below are some of the optional adventures on offer in Nepal:

White Water Rafting

Nepal, the land replete with multifarious mighty rivers, offers an unparallel rafting experience. Barely any other country in the world is blessed with such an astonishing combo of thundering swift rivers, sub-tropical climate and mammoth white sand beaches, ideal for riverside camping. Not a surprise why Nepal is one of the first choices when it comes to this thrilling river sport. In terms of the swiftness and obstacles encountered, the rivers in Nepal have been graded on an international scale, ranging from Class 1 to 6. Rivers with gentle moving waters and meager obstacles fall under Class-1. On the other hand, hazardously swift rivers, which are almost impossible by any means, are the rivers of Class-6. As long as people are in good physical condition and aren’t scared of maneuvering along the briskly flowing waters, they should ideally be capable to raft up to Class-3 rivers. Anyone who is acquainted to the water currents and has had the experience of rafting before can opt for Class 4 & 5 rivers.  As most of the rivers originate from the glaciers, their ferocity is simply unmatchable to the rest of the rivers in the world, making the rafting adventure in Nepal even more pulsating. With an outstanding selection of rivers, there are choices suitable for all levels, from fun Grade 2 and 3 rapids, to hardcore rides with waves that will flip you into raging torrents of water (if that is your thing).

White-water rafting is possible year round, except during monsoon season from June to August. October and November are considered the prime months to grab the paddle.

Come and experience the robust waves of the thundering rivers!!

Paragliding

Paragliding is another adventure sport that carved out a niche for itself in Nepal. Sarangkot, an absolutely scenic village in Kaski district, boisterously perched on a mountainside ridge at an altitude of 1600 meters is where the paragliding flights are operated in Nepal. As you get wafted in the open air, under the canopy of a crystal clear blue sky, relish the flurry of superb vistas unfolding! While the luscious Annapurna Massif, Mt. Fishtail, Mt. Himchuli, Mt. Lamjung etc. stand formidably and tantalizing adjacent to you, the verdant fields, mesmerizing lakes, pretty rivers and splendid landscapes spread underneath. You will have the opportunity to capture some great stills. Once up there, high over the valley and in the presence of the mighty Annapurna range, the silence is a sublime experience!!

Mountain biking

Leaving behind the highways and fumes, and leading you to rugged yet a tranquil side of the country that most tourists will never see, the rural tracks in Nepal seem to be made for mountain biking. While serious bikers bring their own wheels, high quality bikes can be hired in Kathmandu too. It is a scene that is fast emerging -- while the completion of the road from Jomsom along the Annapurna circuit has trekkers mourning, mountain bikers are rejoicing over this thrilling new route.

There are many ways to tailor your route, combining cultural sites with mountain views on a mix of single tracks and jeep trails. Any mountain-bike odyssey across Nepal will have a lot of uphill sections, so you will need to be a fairly experienced rider with good fitness levels.

Bungee Jumping

If the above options do not tickle your taste buds for the adrenaline and you actually want an extra shot, the Last Resort near the Tibetan border may be what you are looking for. Home to one of the world’s highest bungee jumps, the 160m-drop into the Bhote Kosi gorge is guaranteed to scare the wits out of you. Canyoning provides an equally unconventional route, as you abseil down the face of a waterfall before plunging into the natural pools.
