Grasshopper Adventures, cycling tour specialists in Asia, announce two new cycling itineraries for families in Laos

(TRAVPR.COM) LAOS - March 2nd, 2016 - With the introduction of two new tours in Laos, Grasshopper Adventures, the cycling holiday specialists, have further extended their range of family bike tours in Asia. The new offerings include a 5 day tour in and around Luang Prabang and Nong Khiaw, and a longer 10 day itinerary that runs from north to south of the country.

Little Laos Family Adventure - 5 days

Designed as a great introduction to Laos, and a fun and active component of a longer journey, the 5 day ‘Little Laos Family Adventure’ is centred around the beautiful World Heritage town of Luang Prabang for the first half of the tour, before heading to the scenically situated Nong Khiaw. Along with daily cycling there are plenty of off-bike activities for all the family including a tour of Luang Prabang, a cooking class, meeting an elephant and boat rides on the Mekong and Ou rivers.

The tour’s cycling routes are chosen to be easily achievable for families, with no more than 35km riding on any given day. Due to the hilly nature of the destination there are occasionally some small gradients on the way, however the pace of riding is relaxed with a support vehicle always on hand for those who need a break from pedaling.

Family Christmas in Laos - 10 days

Following the Mekong from the northern town of Luang Prabang to Pakse in the far south of the country, the ‘Family Christmas in Laos’ 10 day itinerary is a great alternative to the traditional family winter vacation. Starting in Luang Prabang, one of the gems of Southeast Asia, the tour heads south through some of the region’s most spectacular scenery to the small town of Vang Vieng, set amongst karst limestone mountains. From here the route continues to the capital of Vientiane, before a short flight to Pakse to explore the town and nearby Bolaven Plateau. 

Along with 7 days of cycling (with never more than 45km on a single day) plenty of off-the-bike activities are incorporated into the tour including kayaking, boat rides and hiking. While there is one slightly challenging day involving a couple of climbs the balance of the cycling is relaxed and enjoyable, with a support vehicle on hand at all times to give tired riders a rest. A high priority is given to safety throughout.
