YELLOWSTONE AND GRAND TETONS TOURS CENTERED AROUND TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE AUGUST 2017
Industry: Tours

Tour operator organizes adventures around total solar eclipses. Tropical Sails Corp has three unique offerings for the Great American Eclipse of August 21, 2017.

(TRAVPR.COM) ARIZONA - March 11th, 2016 - The last one in North America was Feb. 26, 1979. A nation went so long without.  Without what?  Without being totaled by an eclipse of the sun.

August 21, 2017, totality returns as the Moon will pass between the Earth and the Sun, therefore obscuring the image of the Sun from the perspective of a thin strip of land in the United States.

The moon's shadow created by the total solar eclipse will touchdown in Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska, Missouri, Southern Illinois, Eastern Kentucky, Tennessee, and South Carolina. Along a path, a little over 100 miles wide the sun will be completely blocked by the moon.

Amateur astronomers, eclipse chasers, ecliptophiles from all over the globe will descend on this narrow strip of land to observe the dark side of the moon. The sun's corona, prominences, and eerie lighting phenomena will be visible by naked eye for a period just over two minutes. Planets will be visible in the daytime. The effect, which is very difficult to photograph, brings chills and palpitations to observers.  One client of Tropical Sails Corp said that "it was like seeing the face of God."

Tropical Sails Corp has been providing clients with opportunities to observe solar eclipses since the intrepid caravan of 35 motorhomes, trailers, and rigs who drove the Baja in 1991. Daniel Oppliger, President of Tropical Sails Corp looks at two major factors of where to go to observe any solar eclipse are the weather, i.e. probability of cloud cover and length of the eclipse.  "The time of the eclipse increases the closer you are to center line and the apex of the eclipse ark," according to Oppliger, and "observers always take cloud cover into consideration."

West of the Grand Tetons promises the highest probabilities for clear skies, with Eastern Oregon just ahead of Idaho. Tropical Sails will be observing on the west side of the Tetons in Teton Valley, Driggs, ID.  They are offering three tours for the August 21, 2017, total solar eclipse.

The Teton Spring Lodge and Yellowstone Adventure is an 8-night tour offering an exquisite resort in the midst of wild flowers and a golf course. The tour visits Idaho Falls, West Yellowstone, Yellowstone National Park, Jackson, WY and Teton Springs, ID.

The rustic Historic Hatchet resort is included in the 7-night Yellowstone and Tetons Solar Eclipse Adventure.  This tour is one-day shorter with base camp being the historic Hatchet Resort at Moran, WY.

Included in both adventures are a small group early evening wildlife safari, a rafting trip on the Snake River, and a traditional Chuck Wagon Dinner.

For those with limited time, Tropical Sails has three-night Solar Eclipse Idaho Tour spending two of those nights in Idaho Falls, ID. All tours originate in Salt Lake City, UT.

Tropical Sails Corp has been organizing solar eclipse adventures since 1991. They have been to Africa, Turkey, China, and Australia- all twice. They chartered the former Windjammer Barefoot Cruises fleet for The February 26, 1998, Total Solar Eclipse in the Caribbean Sea. Currently, Tropical Sails has clients in Borneo, Belitung Island and in the Java Sea recovering from the March 9, 2016, total solar eclipse.
