New general manager announces plans to elevate guest experience

ST. LUCIA (March 16, 2016) - The Landings St. Lucia is reporting strong interest in its luxury resort following attendance at the Caribbean Travel Marketplace and Boston Globe travel shows this year.

New general manager Wilbert Mason said meeting with sellers of Caribbean vacations and travel consumers at the events in The Bahamas and Boston, respectively, have helped not only to elevate the appeal of the St. Lucian resort, but also resulted in bookings.

"The shows have been great and we've made new connections and opened some great channels that can really build our occupancy at The Landings," said Mason, who has previously managed luxury hotels in Barbados, the British Virgin Islands and Turks and Caicos.

The Landings St. Lucia will invest in authenticity in 2016, said Mason, "from the minute you make your reservation to when you're heading back home, we will personalize the experience with true Caribbean hospitality from start to finish."

"We believe our human capital is our most important asset, and just last month we completed a successful Forbes Travel Guide Executive Training program for our staff, " disclosed Mason, who assumed the reins of the award-winning hotel late last year. The program provided professional development in areas such as housekeeping, hotel dining, reservations and enhancing the spa experience.

Mason said that in addition to new executive appointments to oversee The Landings' bars and restaurants, the resort's employees will receive expert training from a representative of the American Culinary Federation "to give our staff the tools necessary to ensure The Landings is an experience to remember. This is a luxury product, and if we're going to compete in the luxury arena, we have to invest in our staff."

Mason underscored that in addition to luxurious accommodations and amenities, the food and beverage experience was critically important. "Food creates memories. Just sitting and having a drink or having a great dinner, that's creating a memory. And most of our guests will spend time at our bars and restaurants, so it's really important that we invest and make sure that our offerings are excellent."
