Celebrate Memorial Day Weekend and welcome the start of the summer season at Waterville Valley Resort with delicious chowders, brews and fishing for the kids.
On Saturday, May 28, kids can try to catch Corcoran Pond’s elusive Kirby during the annual Casting for Kirby Youth Fishing Derby and win a prize. Registration starts at 8 a.m., with fishing starting at 8:30 a.m. for ages 7 and under, and 8:45 a.m. for children ages 8 to 15. Prizes will be awarded across all age groups. Family friendly entertainment will be provided, including a presentation by Wildlife Encounters, face painting, boat rentals, a bounce house and a visit with Bruce the Moose.
On Sunday, May 29, sample a variety of chowders from local restaurants at the 27th Annual Chowderfest & Brews. Sampling runs from 12 noon to 2 p.m. with guests submitting ballots for their favorites for the “Golden Clam Award” for the best chowder. Admission is $7.50 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.
While enjoying the chowder and brews, guests will also be treated to live music on the Gazebo Stage from 12 noon to 3 p.m. by Do’s Monkey’s and additional live entertainment from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. by The Boneshakers.

Military personnel, public servants and families are invited to celebrate Memorial Day aboard the M/S Mount Washington with special rates all weekend.
During day cruises on May 28-29, veterans, retired, active military personnel, public servants and their families can cruise for just $10 per person. Just show an ID at the ticket window and receive this special rate. Children under 12 also cruise free on all Memorial Day weekend daytime cruises from all ports.

The Salute to Service - Rock, Roll & Remember Dinner Cruise, on Saturday evening, May 28, will honor police officers, firefighters, EMTs, veterans and military personnel. This cruise is open to all at the special dinner cruise rate of $35 per person and departs Weirs Beach at 7 p.m.

The Mount Washington Cog Railway, the World’s first mountain-climbing cog railway, opened its 147th season bringing visitors from all over the world to the summit of the Northeast's highest peak on April 30. Throughout the season, there are special trains and discounts for our guests. Starting Memorial weekend, the Cog will be firing up its vintage steam trains, and will be running the steamer as the first train up the mountain throughout the season on scheduled days.
