A1TRAVEL REPORTS A 30% BOOST IN SUMMER BOOKINGS FOR THE CANARY ISLANDS
Industry: Travel Agents

The Canary Islands has seen their bookings increase by almost a third this year, while the rest of Spain continues to raise its prices.

(TRAVPR.COM) UK - 16th May, 2016 - As many hotels in the mainland regions consistently put up their room rates, other popular destinations are reaping the benefits of a tourism boost. The Canary Islands in particular, traditionally known for being the perfect winter-sun holiday, is seeing the effects of this upturn in bookings volume.

The number of people opting for the lower-priced but equally high standard of holiday has meant a huge spike, especially across the summer months and school holiday periods of July and August. The ever-popular destination of Tenerife is top of the list.

Why the sudden change?

It's hard to say exactly why the spike has occurred, although many travel companies and experts are pointing to concerns over visiting places like Turkey and Egypt during the current turbulent political climate.

However, many of these concerns have been spurred by media reports, and actually, these may be ideal destinations for people who don't believe all the hype. Security in these areas has been heightened, and most of the political activism is taking place far away from the most popular resorts. In fact, you could bag a bargain given that bookings across Egypt and Turkey have fallen by over 50%.

For those sun-seekers in search of an alternative though, they seem to be heading for the shores of the equally hot Canary Islands, in a bid to shy away from the steeper prices in mainland Spain.

Where can I go?

If you're thinking that the Canary Islands would make the perfect holiday for you, there are plenty of options. Tenerife is always one of the most booked locations, because of its diverse cultural background and the number of activities that make it the perfect family destination. You can visit Loro Park for its tropics birds, Tenerife Zoo Monkey Park to get up close and personal with some of our closest cousins, or you could just soak up some sun and sea on one of its many beautiful golden beaches.

Fuerteventura is known locally as a surfer’s paradise, because of the calm stretches of ocean, but it's perfect for geologists too with its rock formations and volcanic past. If you wanted a spot of golf and some sunbathing for a truly relaxing holiday though, then Gran Canaria is probably the best option for you.

If you're thinking of booking though you'd better act fast! All-inclusive holidays are the most popular booking so far this year, and many of the best hotels are now full or almost full for the peak seasons.

Nick Lima of A1travel, said: "I advise all holidaymakers that if they want to secure their family holiday to any of the Canary Islands, they should book as soon as possible for school holiday periods to avoid disappointment."

Make sure your family isn't the one missing out this year, and get in touch today to book the holiday of a lifetime.
