TWO-WEEK 'ARABIC FESTIVAL' OPENS AT PARK REGIS KRIS KIN HOTEL DUBAI

Showcasing local art, culture and cuisine, a two-week Arabic Festival opened today at the Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel Dubai.

(TRAVPR.COM) UAE - May 16th, 2016 - Showcasing local art, culture and cuisine, a two-week Arabic Festival opened today at the Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel Dubai. The opening ceremony was held at the magnificent Kris restaurant that is the hotel's signature pan-Asian dining outlet. Located on the 19th floor Kris offers panoramic views of the Dubai skyline with a fabulous selection of Asian and Oriental dishes including a wide choice of Arabic delights. A highlight of the inaugural reception was a beautiful art exhibition put together by local artists that was paired with delicious Arabic delicacies and superb live entertainment.     

The Arabic Festival serves as a prelude to the activities lined up at Park Regis for the Holy Month of Ramadan. Commenting on the initiative, Scott Butcher, General Manager, Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel Dubai, said, "The Arabic Festival has been organised to give visitors and residents an opportunity to discover and experience the various facets of local heritage and culture including the region's rich cuisine. Our chefs have been busy putting together an enticing menu of Arabic specialties that will be available at Kris during the next two weeks. In addition, our entire team has been working very hard to create the right mood and ambience for this fiesta. We therefore, invite people to come and have a look and take advantage of the many picture opportunities as well as enjoy the excellent food and art."

The Arabic Festival will continue at the Park Regis Kris Kin Hotel until 31st May, 2016. The artists exhibiting at the event include Jessica Watson-Thorp, Beena Samuel and Tauseef Al Mulla.

About Jessica Watson-Thorp
Originally from Australia, Jessica Watson-Thorp has lived in the Middle East for the past thirteen years. It is a region she describes as “deeply beautiful and compelling,” and her work is an attempt to capture both personal experiences and what she calls “the dramatic physical environment” here. Inspired by Matisse, the vibrant colors of time spent in Africa, and the rhythms of life, Watson-Thorp seeks to represent all that is positive in the world. “I am an artist,” she says, “I am a woman, and I am inspired by life!”

About Beena Samuels
Indian born, Beena Samuels’ passion for Art started in her school years.   Her style is abstract and lyrical with a penchant for organic forms and free flowing compositions.  Watercolors and Silk Paintings are her forte and enjoys  working in Acrylics, Mixed Media and Mosaics.  Resident of the UAE since 1982,  Beena’s background is in Accountancy.  Beena has exhibited in group and solo shows in the UAE  since 1999.  Her works can be found in public and private collections all over the globe.   Recipient of  several awards including the prestigious UAE Watercolour Challenge in 2003.  

About Tauseef Al Mulla
Tauseef Al Mulla is a Sharjah based  U.A.E  artist, women of  different facets, specializing in Arabic Calligraphy in various styles like Ruqa, Diwani, Jali Diwani, Naskh and Thulth, as well doing etchings based on  Oriental Architecture with collages of Arabic monuments and motifs. Creating a powerful  blend of Islamic verses with Arabic arches, leaving the audience mesmerized. As a professional artist  since 1990, Tauseef has exhibited her work all around the world, in both solo and group shows. She has conducted workshops and teaches  art in different mediums. She enables students to  master  the art of Arabic Calligraphy with pen and ink then enlarge and incorporate into paintings with ageing and textured effect as well doing Calligraphy in abstract form.
