SURVIVING SUMMER - HOW TO BEAT THE HEAT ON JULY 4TH
Industry: Adventure

Morrison's Rogue Wilderness Adventures offers single and multi-day rafting trips on Southern Oregon's Rogue River this summer to escape the heat.

(TRAVPR.COM) JACKSON - May 23rd, 2016 - Americans celebrate Independence Day with parades, picnics, barbecues, and, where possible, escape from the hot weather.  Southern Oregon's summer months are sizzling, and escaping the heat is fun and easy on the river, the Rogue River that is. The Rogue River canyon is full of thrills and chills.  Its charm lies in its thrilling whitewater stretches, alternated with mild riffles, placid pools, and narrow canyons edged by towering cliffs.  When triple digit days arrive, rafting is a cool way to stay cool.

1)  Mid-June through August is peak rafting season, and the water is especially refreshing. Morrison's Rogue Wilderness Adventures (MRWA) offers single-day floats in Rogue River's popular 13-mile recreational corridor, and multi-day rafting adventures in the river's famous 34-mile wild and scenic section, with either overnight camping or lodge stays. Either itinerary in nature's amusement park is guaranteed unforgettable. Every trip features rollercoaster whitewater rapids and wildlife attractions.

2)  The popular Hog Creek to Grave Creek is popular with families who only want a half-day or full-day excursion. Trips start with a lazy float through the scenic Hellgate Canyon and Taylor Creek Gorge to view bald eagle nests, turtles, herons, and other wildlife. Excitement builds as the river whooshes through the Galice Chute and down through the whitewater riffles in Bailey Creek Canyon.

3)  For the brave and daring, Grave Creek is the jump-off point for a wild once-in-a-lifetime adventure by oar raft, paddle raft or inflatable kayak. You'll hike around Rainie Falls, and maybe get a glimpse of salmon jumping.  Ride the roller-coaster rapids in the Class IV-plus Mule Creek Canyon and at Blossom Bar, whitewater frothing at the bow of your boat.

The gray-green gorges of the Lower Rogue offer plenty of opportunity to glimpse wildlife up close and personal. Deer and black bear scamper in the river-carved canyons, river otters, mallard ducks, beavers and turtles splash in the emerald and turquoise pools, and bald eagles and osprey soar above the rock formations and towering cliffs.

At night, the family can camp under the stars on the sandy shores of the river, or enjoy the cozy wilderness lodges nestled in the Douglas fir and Ponderosa pine forests. This is one escape that the family cook can take a holiday. All trips include light picnic-style lunches. On the multi-day trips, you have your choice: family-style feasts served by the chefs at the lodges or 'round the campfire cookouts prepared by the guides.

There's a reason why water has long been used for meditation and relaxation. Let your cares float away as you float down the Rogue River with Rogue Wilderness Adventures.
