On Friday July 1, the Discovery Center’s Sci-Fri Friday feature will be 1984’s The Last Starfighter, the story of a small-time teenage video gamer recruited by aliens to use his impressive gaming skills to fight off fearsome alien invaders.
(TRAVPR.COM) USA - June 27th, 2016 - Concord, NH –On Friday July 1, the Discovery Center’s Sci-Fri Friday feature will be 1984’s The Last Starfighter, the story of a small-time teenage video gamer recruited by aliens to use his impressive gaming skills to fight off fearsome alien invaders. Starring Robert Preston as the alien recruiter and Lance Guest as Alex Rogan, this 1984 flick includes a 12-year-old Will Wheaton of Star Trek Next Generation fame, cast as a boy who thinks an alien invasion would be just awesome!
The Discovery Center’s exhibit galleries will open at 6:30 p.m. on Friday night, July 1. The planetarium show Tonight’s Sky begins at 7 p.m., followed by The Last Starfighter at 8:15 p.m. Admission, which includes the exhibit galleries, planetarium show and The Last Starfighter, is $10 for adults, $9 for students and seniors, $7 for children under 13, and free for members. Pending clear skies, members of the NH Astronomical Society will set up telescopes on the Discovery Center lawn for free night sky viewing, beginning at dusk. The Discovery Center’s Teen Night program is on hiatus for the summer.
The Discovery Center is open from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day this summer except for the Fourth of July. Summer fun at the Discovery Center includes the new traveling exhibit, Eat Well, Play Well; new planetarium show The Little Star that Could and old favorites Sunstruck, Black Holes and Tonight’s Sky, as well as Sci-Fi Fridays the first Friday of each summer month.
The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center features 21st century interactive exhibits on aviation, astronomy, Earth and space sciences, a state-of-the-art planetarium and a variety of science, technology, and engineering and mathematics programs.
