Travel recruitment activity reaches record high in first six months of the year

·         Total travel placements increased 31.69% in first six months of 2016

·         June’s total number of placements equalled record high

·         Placement numbers fell only once year-on-year since September 2013

More jobs are now being filled in the travel industry than at any point since at least 2009, according to figures from C&M Travel Recruitment and C&M Executive Recruitment.

The total number of travel job placements in the first six months of 2016 has risen annually by 31.69 per cent to reach its highest level since the companies’ records began.

June’s total number of placements equalled the record high monthly figure set last October, and was up 29.69 per cent from June 2015’s total. Meanwhile, travel job placements have now increased year-on-year in 32 of the last 33 months, meaning there has only been one dip since September 2013.

Analysing the figures, Barbara Kolosinska, Director at C&M Travel Recruitment and C&M Executive Recruitment, said: “In terms of the number of travel jobs being filled, the travel industry is now in its strongest and most positive position so far this decade.

“At C&M, we have seen year on year placement growth in 32 of the last 33 months – with June 2016 reaching a joint record high. This is clearly great news for the industry and shows that many travel companies are becomingly increasingly confident about creating – and filling - new positions within their business.

“Of course we now face a new challenge in Brexit. And while the decision’s full impact on the travel industry is still uncertain, early indications of activity and intent from our clients suggest that the sector will continue on with their recruitment plans undiminished.

“Personally, I have worked in travel for more than two decades and have seen the huge effect that recessions, natural disasters and terrorist acts have had on our industry, and I have no doubt that while Britain’s decision to leave the EU will impact us all, it will create opportunities for focused, flexible and ambitious companies as well.”
