Portuguese hospitality will await fan comforted by Portuguese boy after Euro 2016 defeat

(TRAVPR.COM) USA - July 13th, 2016 - The world was moved this past weekend when a little boy in a Portuguese soccer jersey, was filmed comforting a distraught French fan after Portugal had beat France to win the European Championship.

Now, Turismo de Portugal is inviting the French fan, comforted by young Mathis in Paris, to Portugal. As so, and in an effort to reach out to him, people are being asked to share his image across social media. Mathis, a French boy of Portuguese descent, whose gesture of comfort was shared virally around the world through social networks, demonstrated the intense emotions of the game and showed "the affable, tolerant and genuine way of life of the Portuguese people," says Luís Araújo, president of Turismo de Portugal.

Turismo de Portugal is also inviting the young Mathis.
