(TRAVPR.COM) UK - July 18th, 2016 - Malawi’s Danforth Yachting, Lodge and Yacht charters at Cape Maclear, Lake Malawi, have had a busy couple of months. A few weeks back, their large catamaran Mufasa was taken out of the water for maintenance and cleaning. With such a large vessel, it is a massive undertaking to haul her out the water. How do they do it? You may well ask! Well, as with most things in rural Africa, you just have to make a plan, get creative, be bold, overcome any obstacles and have plenty of materials on hand to tackle a big task.
After installing an anchor point for the heavy-duty winch system along the slipway, they laid some strong metal runners beyond the beach and into the lake. The trailer was launched down the track and then with strong chains and man power, they winched the yacht and trailer out of the water.
With a fresh repaint on the underside of the yacht, the Mufasa was ready to launch again.
More boats were ready to be refurbished too including the cedar wood MV Shenzi!
A talented free-hand sign writer from the local village has repainted all the boat names on their small dinghy sailing boats, mostly named after Lion King characters.
More developments include the fabulous upper deck on the beach-side thatched bar and deck area. With this addition almost complete, the views across the lake will be simply stunning.
