Creta Maris Beach Resort organized an evacuation Drill in the premises of the resort.
(TRAVPR.COM) GREECE - September 28th, 2016 - On Monday 26th & Tuesday 27th of September, 2016, for fifth consecutive year, Creta Maris Beach Resort conducted its annual evacuation drill of its facilities, together with a lecture by Professor Lekkas.
This year’s exercise scenario included an earthquake, with a subsequence explosion from gas leak and fire breakout in multiple areas of the resort, as well as a collapse of part of the internal walls with the existence of injured people. It is worth noting that both employees and guests participated in the exercise, thus giving it the corresponding plausibility and seriousness. The exercise lasted a total of 37 minutes, while it was carried out under the supervision of Mr. Efthimios Lekkas, professor of the Geology & Geoenvironment Department, of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens.
In the context of the evacuation exercise a lecture by Professor Lekkas was preceded on Monday, September 26th, 2016, with the title "NaTech vs Hotels - Business planning for dealing with earthquakes and fires in a hotel’s environment".
The aim of the exercise was to ensure the excellent organization of the resort’s fire safety team and thus to ensure the safety of guests and staff in case of emergency.
The event was honored by the presence of Mr. Stavros Arnaoutakis, the Regional Governor of Crete, Mr. Giannis Mastorakis, the Mayor of Hersonissos, Mr. Giorgos Pelekanakis, the president of the Pancretan & Association of Hotel Managers and Mr. Maragakis Michalis, the Head of Occupational Safety and Health Inspection of Heraklion.
Moreover, the evacuation exercise attended the Police Department of Hersonissos, the Port Authority of Hersonissos, the National Centre for Emergency Care (EKAV), the medical center Cretan Medicare, the Fire Echelon of Hersonissos, the Regional Administration of Crete including the Fire department of Heraklion & the Special Unit of Disaster Response (EMAK), the Hellenic Red Cross, and the transport organization KTEL Heraklion-Lasithi. Further, the Greek Tourism Organization (ΕΟΤ) and the Civil Protection of Decentralized Administration of Crete participated as observers.
