On Friday night, October 7, visitors to the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center will get a sneak preview of the NASA exhibition, The Hubble Space Telescope: New Views of the Universe and an opportunity to meet NASA Goddard Space Flight Center Lead Outreach
(TRAVPR.COM) USA - September 30th, 2016 - (Concord, NH) On Friday night, October 7, visitors to the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center will get a sneak preview of the NASA exhibition, The Hubble Space Telescope: New Views of the Universe and an opportunity to meet NASA Goddard Space Flight Center Lead Outreach Coordinator Maurice Henderson. The Discovery Center will open at 6:30 p.m.; at 7 p.m., Henderson will lead a workshop for teens on the Hubble while visitors explore the new exhibition and/or take in the Tonight’s Sky planetarium show. In a public program at 8:15 p.m., Henderson will discuss 27 years of scientific discoveries made possible by the venerable Hubble Space Telescope. The all-inclusive price for Friday evening’s programs is $10/adults, $9/students and seniors, $7 for children 12 and under, and free for members. Pending clear skies, members of the NH Astronomical Society will be outside, offering free views of the night sky through a variety of telescopes.
The Hubble Space Telescope: New Views of the Universe opens to the public on Saturday, October 8, and will be on display for three months, thanks to the generosity of NASA and Nathan Wechsler & Company. “We are delighted to be able to bring this scientifically rich, highly interactive NASA exhibition to New Hampshire,” said Discovery Center Executive Director Jeanne Gerulskis. “Maurice Henderson arrives at the Discovery Center Monday morning with 50 huge crates, and we can’t wait to look inside!” Staff and volunteers will work all week to set up this exhibition on America’s favorite telescope and the advances in knowledge that have resulted from its use. Admission to the exhibition is included with paid general admission to the Discovery Center and is free for members.
The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center features 21st century interactive exhibits on aviation, astronomy, Earth and space sciences, a state-of-the-art planetarium and a variety of science, technology, and engineering and mathematics programs.
