(TRAVPR.COM) USA - March 24th, 2017 - The 2017 Karbon National Championships went off at Grand Targhee Resort in Alta, Wyoming on March 2, 3 and 4th. A new venue for the race division of the US Telemark Ski Association, Grand Targhee provided an excellent location and fantastic conditions for the Championships, the competition to determine the fastest telemark skiers in the United States.
In the men’s division, it was Franconia’s Cory Snyder in first place, Dylan Weglarz in second and Jeff Gay of Steamboat Springs, Colorado in third. In this year’s Minus 33 Eastern Region Series, it was Dylan in first place after 5 races, edging out USTSA’s president Garrett Long who came in second.

Dylan is a sophomore at Plymouth State University and trains in NH at Waterville Valley Ski Resort, where he graduated from the Junior Seasonals Program. Waterville Valley is very well represented on the US Telemark Ski Team by numerous WV skiers including Sarah Carley, Devon Wright, Sam Garber, Ian Boisvert, and Jake Badway.
Also competing on the National Team is Dylan’s dad Steve Weglarz, Jr, who is a telemark instructor with Waterville Valley Snowsports.
Telemark ski racing is a unique blend of alpine and Nordic ski disciplines, with giant slalom course that includes a jump and skate section, and penalty points assessed for poor form.
