The fun begins on Saturday with the annual Casting for Kirby Youth Fishing Derby. The competition is divided, kids ages 7 and under and children from 8 to 15. The goal is try to catch Corcoran Pond’s elusive Kirby and win a prize.

The Memorial Day Weekend at Waterville Valley is the start of summer. It is two days of fun with activities for all ages from fishing to face painting and live music.

The fun begins on Saturday with the annual Casting for Kirby Youth Fishing Derby. The competition is divided, kids ages 7 and under and children from 8 to 15. The goal is try to catch Corcoran Pond’s elusive Kirby and win a prize.

But that’s not the only thing happening on that day. Family friendly entertainment is also provided, including a presentation by NH Balloon Man, face painting, boat rentals and a visit with Bruce the Moose.

On Sunday adults can sample a variety of chowders from local restaurants at the 28th Annual Chowderfest & Brews. Guests can submit ballots for their favorites for the “Golden Clam Award” for the best chowder. During the afternoon seasonal ales from New Hampshire are available to sample for guests 21 and older and while you enjoy the chowder and brews you can also listen to live music on the Gazebo Stage from 12-3pm.
