(TRAVPR.COM) USA - June 30th, 2017 - Concord, NH – This summer, the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center has lined up special staff picks for its Summer Super Stellar Sci-Fi Series:
On Friday night, July 7 at 7 p.m., the Center will feature Pacific Rim, a movie about an epic battle between sea monsters and humankind, starring Charlie Hunnan (Jax from Sons of Anarchy), Idris Elba and Rinko Kikuchie.
On Friday night, August 4 at 7 p.m., for all those who “never give up, never surrender”, the Center will show Galaxy Quest, the story of a bickering cast of a Star Trek-type TV series who suddenly and shockingly have to battle real aliens. Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman and Tony Shaloub star in this 1999 sci-fi comedy.
And on Friday night, September 1 at 7 p.m., the Discovery Center will round up the series with the epic Stanley Kubric film, 2001: A Space Odyssey, starring Keir Dullea, Gary Lockwood, and Douglas Rain as the chillingly haunting voice of HAL 9000.
Doors open on the first Friday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Visitors can enjoy the sci-fi feature at 7, and then check out the exhibit galleries including the Center’s special summer exhibition, Take Flight, after the movie. All-inclusive price is $10 for adults, $9 for students and seniors, $7 for children and free for members.
Provided the skies are clear, members of the NH Astronomical Society will be outside the Discovery Center with their telescopes, sharing the wonders of the night sky for free with Discovery Center visitors.
The Discovery Center is open from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. seven days a week, from Friday June 16 to Labor Day, plus the first Friday night each month from 6:30-9:30 p.m. (closed on 4th of July and Labor Day).
The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center features 21st century interactive exhibits on aviation, astronomy, Earth and space science, a state-of-the-art planetarium and a variety of science, technology, and engineering and mathematics programs.
