During the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) Extraordinary Summit convene in Ndjamena, Chad this week, the Republic of Equatorial Guinea announced that visas for all CEMAC nationals travelling is waived. The theme for the gathering of Heads of State and Prime Ministers was "Accelerated integration for an emerging CEMAC".
As one of the fastest growing economies in West Central Africa, Equatorial Guinea tourism sector is expected to be the initial benefactor of this policy. The Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) region connects 37 million consumers that come from Chad, Gabon, Cameroon, Central Africa Republic, Congo-Brazzaville and Equatorial Guinea. Equatorial Guinea is the home for CEMAC Parliament.
Under the Horizonte 2020 Development Plan, the tourism sector was eyed as a component for the country's diversification plan. Currently, Equatorial Guinea maintains world class hotels and resorts, championship golf courses, pristine white sands beaches and an African forest where nature lives 24/7.
