NEW EVENTS HAVE GOLFERS TEEING OFF IN THAILAND
Industry: Golf

Golfasian and Go Golfing, arguably the two biggest golf tour operators in the Asia Pacific region, today announced they will expand their event portfolio to six annual tournaments in Thailand and Vietnam.

(TRAVPR.COM) THAILAND - April 26th, 2018 - Golfasian and Go Golfing, arguably the two biggest golf tour operators in the Asia Pacific region, today announced they will expand their event portfolio to six annual tournaments in Thailand and Vietnam. These events will attract more than 1,700 golfers for an average stay of 10 nights. Now, that’s big business in the world of golf tourism.

These industry trendsetters are breaking new ground with the launch of a Golf Week exclusively for singles and solo travellers in Pattaya in September. In October, Chiang Mai will host a ‘couples only’ tournament. And, they have parlayed the huge success of their Centara World Masters tournament in Hua Hin to launch another boutique event there in October.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand understands the economic value of high yielding golf tourists and are great supporters of the tournaments hosted by Go Golfing and Golfasian. Go Golfing’s Peter McCarthy confirmed that in addition to Thailand being a great holiday and event destination, the support of TAT was the catalyst for Thailand being the focus of their event expansion. “The Tourism Authority of Thailand appreciates that destinations in Thailand have once again been chosen to hold these new events that will bring golf visitors from around the globe to our country of smiling caddies. TAT is proud to sponsor these amazing events that are great value for golfers.” said Mr. Tanes Petsuwan, Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications of Tourism Authority of Thailand.

Australian based Go Golfing has been hosting World Masters tournaments for 23 years. These World Masters events, for golfers of all handicaps aged 35 years plus, are week-long celebrations of tournament golf with prize pools upwards of US$100,000. Competing with golfers your own age and handicap is complemented with nightly social events featuring big-name entertainers. The winning formula of the World Masters events has been franked with fields of up to 900 golfers from 30 countries attending.

It makes sense that when Go Golfing was looking to expand their events into Asia that they partnered with Golfasian, who look after more than 20,000 golfers travelling to Asia each year. Golfasian has the infrastructure, business partnerships, service culture and know-how that are required to deliver the high standards we set for our events,” McCarthy said.

And hasn’t this partnership proven to be a master stroke. Their first event together was the Centara World Masters in Hua Hin, Thailand in 2014. On the eve of the fifth instalment in June 2018, almost 600 golfers from all over Europe, North America, Africa, Asia and the Pacific are counting down the start to this much-loved event.

While Golfasian looks after thousands of holiday golfers each year, founder Mark Siegel and his team are thrilled to be part of these tournaments. “The tournaments we host with Go Golfing are unique and special. Seeing hundreds of golfers having fun, laughing, smiling, is what it is all about. My staff are excited to be at the events and pampering the clients is what they love to do.”

“Our partnership with Go Golfing has been inspiring. Most tour operators would be content with getting 50 to 100 players, but not us. Even with 600 golfers we push to continue to raise the bar, so we deliver better events and memorable experiences for golfers. This year, Centara Masters players will be treated to a one hour massage on arrival. I can’t think of any event that welcomes you like that.”

The Go Golfing and Golfasian event partnership also includes a Week of Golf in Pattaya straight after the Centara Masters. You’re too late for this year, it sold out months ago. Big numbers also attend their Accor Vietnam World Masters in the golfing hotspot of Danang in central Vietnam. Plans are underway for a tournament in Phuket also. Spoilt for choice, choosing which event to go to will be a tough choice for golfers.
