Destination Asia is pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew Smith as general manager of Destination Asia in Singapore with effect from 1 August 2018.
(TRAVPR.COM) BANGKOK - August 2nd, 2018 - Destination Asia is pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew Smith as general manager of Destination Asia in Singapore with effect from 1 August 2018. Matthew will head the team in Singapore, backed by 18 years of experience in the travel industry and a developed network in meeting & events and DMC activities. Alongside the management of daily operations, he will also drive forward new initiatives to further develop the key sectors of meeting and events, luxury FIT travel and cruise. “Matthew will help strengthen the company’s management team as we continue to grow our operations in Asia. His extensive experience in the travel sector and proactive attitude will be a great asset to the company,” commented Nicholas Mulley, Chief Operating Officer of Destination Asia. Matthew said of his new appointment, “I am delighted to be joining one of Asia's leading DMCs. Having partnered with Destination Asia in the past on numerous projects, I am fully aware of their excellent reputation and look forward to becoming part of a dynamic team in Singapore.” Matthew succeeds Bob Guy who will now retire after eight years as managing director of Destination Asia Singapore. Bob set up the Singapore office in October 2010 alongside James Reed and Gill Guy, growing the company in the Lion City from an initial five staff to 34 travel specialists. During his nearly 4 decades in Singapore, he has also served as board director of the Singapore Tourism Promotion Board as well as Corporation member of the Sentosa Development Corporation. Bob will continue in his role as managing director of Destination Asia in Malaysia until the end of the 2018.
