Tour with renowned guide to Cilento's best farms and wineries, Paestum, a lesser known gorgeous area by the sea

The story leading to this exciting tour started over eight years ago when my wife and I, Rudi Lantelme, eloped and were married in Florence, Italy in a “surprise  wedding” and honeymoon planned by Linda County, Journeys Off the Tourist Track

I had prior travel experiences with Journeys Off the Tourist Track, using their expertise for travel for trips in Australia, Bali and other parts of Italy. I knew that Linda had lived in Italy for a year, and would be able to find “hidden treasures” for our honeymoon along the Amalfi Coast. We were not disappointed, as our trip was truly memorable in all aspects of our two-week journey.

Towards the end of our stay, Linda had suggested we “de-tune” in a charming inn (La Torretta) in the medieval town of Casperia, outside  of Rome in the Sabine hills. It was there that we met our future Olive Oil importing business partner, Johnny Madge when we visited a wine bar, which was owned and operated by Johnny! After tasting some fabulous wines, Johnny started pouring olive oils for his guests for an olive oil tasting!

We had never heard about this before, so we were “all in”! Johnny prepared some simple dishes, along with selected extra virgin olive oils from some of the finest Producers in the world Johnny is an extra virgin olive oil “sommelier” and an international judge for olive oil competitions around the globe

In 2009 he started his Johnny Madge Olive Oil Tours which Tom Mueller described as “legendary” in his world famous book “Extra Virginity”. The tours receive consistent excellent reviews on Trip Advisor.The Rustic Cilento Tour is the first of week long tours  created in a collaboration with Journeys off the Tourist Track, Johnny Madge Olive Oil Tours and Rudi Lantelme: Madge and Louies olive oil importing.

Cilento is a mostly undiscovered gem in Campania with fabulous wines and cheeses and superb olive oils. A week will be spent with our charming guide Johnny Madge, delving deeply into the unique food culture that is hidden in this gorgeous area by the sea, south of the Amalfi coast, First group: October 20 – 26, 2019 .
