European Council on Tourism and Trade and European Tourism Academy had jointly announced their decision to admit the Vice-President of The Republic of The Union of Myanmar U Henry Van Thio as a full academician for his role in fostering tourism in ASEAN and for promoting a policy of cultural patrimony protection and safeguard. As per academic tradition, The Letter destined for World Leaders of Tourism and Development will be presented to H.E. Vice President U HENRY VAN THIO on the opening day of World Tourism Day 2019 and WORLD`S BEST TOURIST DESTINATION festivity by European Council on Tourism and Trade President-Professor Dr. Anton Caragea.

Academician Mircea Constantinescu and Academician Ionut Costea announced on behalf of The Office of the President of European Council on Tourism and Trade and European Tourism Academy that H.E. Vice-President of Myanmar U HENRY VAN THIO has being consecrated as a WORLD LEADER OF TOURISM AND DEVELOPMENT and as a member of European Tourism Academy for his “recognition of the role and significance of tourism on world stage”.

Among the reasons for this decision Global Tourism Institution Director Academician Dr. Ionut Costea enumerated: Vice-President U Henry Van Thio has offered his patronage to the modernization of the law of tourism of Myanmar, has pushed forward legislation opening the country tourism sectors for vital investments in modernizing hospitality structures and infrastructures and carved out and chairs the CENTRAL COMMITTEE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF NATIONAL TOURISM INDUSTRY vital for the country development and he recently launched three new committees dedicated to implementing promoting and developing tourism across the nation.
