Rauni Kew, PR & Green Programs Manager for Inn by the Sea Honored by New England Inns and Resorts Association
North Hampton, NH (December 20, 2019) – Rauni Kew, PR & Green Programs Manager for Inn by The Sea was honored by New England Inns & Resorts Association (NEIRA) with their Innovator Award on October 30th at the Samoset Resort in Rockport, Maine, announced NEIRA CEO/President Beth Steucek. The prestigious award honors hospitality professionals who are creative thinkers and innovators and go beyond standard practice to improve overall hotel operations, increased guest satisfaction or loyalty and brand reputation.
“Rauni is well known for her creativity and innovation in hospitality industry”, said Steucek, “Nominated by her peers for this award, Rauni Kew has been a source of inspiration for hoteliers all over New England.”
During the award presentation Inn by the Sea was described as having an impressive history of being both an innovator and early-adopter of hospitality concepts that have set the property apart within the New England market. From being one of the first luxury pet-friendly hotels to setting the New England stage as a "green hotel" long before it was trendy to do so, Inn by the Sea was guided and supported by Rauni Kew's vision. These two concepts specifically have become intertwined into the fabric of the Inn's identity and operation, prompting strong connections between the property and its guests and the property with community programs including the Gulf of Maine Research Institute, Project G.R.A.C.E, the Portland Animal Refuge League and the countless others who are touched in some way by the commitments of the property to maintain Maine's natural resources and create an environment where all are welcome, both two- and four-legged.
The Inn's pet friendly practices are a primary driver of off-season business with furry friends receiving a king's welcome from in-room dining to spa services. The Inn's "green" initiatives extend well beyond the typical sheet and towel program and have supported habitat restoration with the state of Maine, sustainable seafood awareness and partnerships with public and non-profit organizations that support the Inn's local community. The examples are numerous, but include:
1. Fostering Dog program with the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland that has resulted in 155 dog adoptions by guests since the program’s inception 4 years ago.
2. Holiday Giving Trees that support local youth reading programs and Project G.R.A.C.E during times of need.
3. Sustainable seafood awareness to property guests and the local community.
